Capacity building training in Slovenia

Capacity building training in Slovenia

The Capacity building training in Slovenia was successfully implemented on the 8th of September in Koper. The city of Koper is located in the area which has one of the highest rates of migrant population in the country. Namely; results that we got from the focus groups showed that especially in this geographical area professionals working on the field need more knowledge from the intercultural topics and that introduction of cultural mediators would be of great help to them. With the purpose to reach different professionals working on the fields of migration, children and sexual violence the training was co-organized with the regional center for social work, which proved out to be successful as we achieved participation of representatives from different governmental (center for social work, police, law, crisis centers etc.) and nongovernmental organizations working with migrants and/or children and/or victims of sexual violence.  At the beginning of the training the BASE project was presented in detail followed by the presentation of the on-line learning platform and the protocol of cooperation. In terms of content the training covered the following topics: Gender-based violence and socio-cultural context (Module 3), Understanding migration & vulnerabilities of children on the move (Module 4), Communication with migrant girls, survivors of gender-based violence (Module 5) and Collaborative Support in cases of gender-based violence (Module 6).  Overall participants were very satisfied with the training, stating that more such trainings are necessary.
