Virtual Reality Immersive Learning for Emergency Services

About the project

The project aims to improve the skills of firefighters by providing them with a tailored-made training package that integrates immersive and realistic training experiences using VR technology, and a VR training tool that allows automated and event-based feedback generation. ViRaLes aims to increase the effectiveness of VET training for emerging services by providing a cost-effective and efficient VR training and raising awareness among VET trainers about the possibilities of VR technologies.

The specific objectives of the ViRaLes project are:

(A)To improve the skills of firefighters on how to effectively respond to emergencies by providing them with an immersive and realistic training experience using VR technology.

(B) To increase the effectiveness of training for emerging services by providing a more engaging and interactive experience via cost-effective and efficient VR training, which can improve retention of information and skills, reduce the risk of injury and damage, and provide a safe and controlled environment for training using VR technology.

(C) Raise awareness among VET trainers on how to effectively use the VR Training Tool during training provision to emergency services and benefit from the event-based automated assessment mechanisms of the tool.

(D) Encourage the sharing of experiences from all the partners across Europe to identify best practices for the incorporation of ideas related to the use of VR technologies for training emergency services.

(E) Facilitate the widespread dissemination and sustainability of resources and innovative training approaches in the wider EU community and internationally.
